34 / Routine

Daily - as in Every Day.  Routine.
Also, as an added bonus: this and this and this - whenever I hear the word "routine" I'm reminded of this episode of Home Improvement.  (Yeah, random.)

33 / Swell

swell  /swel/  Adjective: Excellent; very good.
And if you want to make your own, I'll even share the recipe.  :)

32 / Water

H2O - the good stuff.

31 / Obsession

Yeah.  Clouds are my obsession.

30 / Summer

This is what summer looks like on my daily walk down the bike path.
(Kinda funny that we played more disc golf in the snow
than we have since everything melted.)

29 / Breakfast

Yep - this theme has been used before.  It came up again since I added more options to my weekly theme choice. And my creativity has been in a big rut (hence five-weeks-worth of photos taken and/or posted in one afternoon).  Oh well.

What?  You don't eat cold spaghetti leftovers for breakfast?  (Neither do I - I nuke 'em first.)

28 / Stay

I wear my chacos every day.                And even when I'm not wearing them, they stay with me.

Also - I'm really sorry I'm posting another (two, actually!) photo of my feet.  Sheesh!  Who does that?

27 / Red, White & Blue

A lovely Independence Day hike provided me with just the color palette I needed for this week's theme:

Red

White

and Blue

26 / Fierce

I think if any flower could look "fierce" it would be this one.

25 / Drifting

Pretty sure I'll use any excuse to take a cloud photo.

Or two - I just couldn't choose. :)

24 / Unfold

Today we see a series of shots to get the full effect of the theme "unfold".

23 / Shadows

From our hike at Fossil Butte National Monument - the clouds and their shadows were quite lovely.
. . . And then I got Moonshadow by Cat Stevens in my head - just change the word "moon" to "cloud".

22 / Asleep

Wait, having we had this one already?  Yes, maybe so.  But here we go again . . . and no, it's not what you first think of when you read the word "asleep" either:

Some do-dads on the shelf inside an old cabin that is part of a museum
(made up of a dozen or more little houses, sheds, and cabins) on Main Street in Frisco, CO.
The museum was closed when I got there, and the whole block was still and silent - asleep, if you will -
as I walked from window to window to peek inside.

21 / Early

Maybe 6 o'clock isn't super early for some people, but for me it is.  Luckily it was gorgeous that morning!

20 / Wide

Yep - still behind.  Way behind.  :)

Red Canyon at sunrise - what a sight!

19 / Mother

Yep, I'm two (and a half) weeks behind on this little project.  Not the first time, it won't be the last. :)

Three baby geese went out to play . . .

While I'm not certain exactly which big goose is the momma here, I did learn that geese mate for life,
so likely one goose is the mom and one is the dad of this little gaggle.

Also appropriate for this image were two other options for this week's theme: 'parade' and 'beginner'.

18 / Trees

We really do get spring-time flowering trees here
(just a couple months later than the rest of mankind)!
What a happy surprise!

And, since the theme this week was trees (plural) - a bonus image of
another tree outside my bedroom window.

17 / Ahead

These guys loved hiking and scrambling and climbing -
and they were always ahead of me.

16 / Work

Playing catch-up for the last couple of weeks today.  I've acquired another list that has almost three years worth of photo ideas.  Now I have four words a week to pick from (since I wasn't always thrilled about the theme words before).  And I have nothing to stop me.

Incidentally this image can fit with a couple of the other options I had for this week:
Journey (definitely has been) and Impossibility (sure feels like it some days)

15 / Bottled

14 / Duet

On the lookout.

11 / Underneath

Underneath the (someday-soon-to-be) canopy of trees on a lovely hike in Virginia.

10 / Vegetables

The beginnings of sweet and sour stir fry.

9 / Spirit

"Meeting of the Minds" - special thanks to my guest(s) for posing for this one.

7 / Body Parts

Thanks for the encouragement / reminders this week - better late than never, right?  I'm learning a lot about lighting and composition and post-editing with this one.

They may not be as cute as someone's chubby baby toes, but mine do have a new coat of paint!

6 / Sleep

This was the best that I could do with this week's word - and again, it was Gregg's idea.
This 52-themed-photo thing is harder than I thought.

5 / Tired

Get it?  "Tire"d?  Ha.  Gregg's idea - he's so punny.
(Though I do admit to thinking of photographing a car since it has tires.  It was Gregg who suggested a bike.)
(And yes, it is only the 5th week of this little adventure and I'm already playing catch-up.  I won't give up, though!)

4 / Macro

Yes, this photo was taken this week - we still have our Christmas tree and lights up.  :)

Frozen Eagle River - solid enough for small animals to walk across.

Resolved

So . . . I want to try a "52 photos project".  I'm too scared (of failing, I think) to try a "365 photos project" - especially since this year is leap year and that makes 366! - but I figured I can take a picture every week of 2012.

To keep myself accountable, I give you this blog.  It's mostly for me.  But if I know someone is watching, I'll keep trying.

I have also decided, in order to encourage my creative juices a little - in other words, so you won't see the same pic of the railroad tracks outside my door every single post - I will try to stick with a theme each week.  I found a list here that I kind of like.  (Don't hate me if I don't stick to it.  This part is still a little bit in experiment mode, and I reserve the right to photograph whatever the heck I want on any particular week.  It is my blog, after all.)

And with that . . . here we go!
